A New Limited Civil Department Added at the San Bernardino Justice Center
SAN BERNARDINO, CA—The Superior Court of San Bernardino County is pleased to announce the addition of a second limited civil department, slated to open on September 24, 2018, at the San Bernardino Justice Center (SBJC). The new department will be located in S16 on the fifth floor, and presided over by the Honorable Lynn M. Poncin.
Aligned with the Court’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan, adding a second limited civil department will rebalance the workload of over 10,000 active cases currently assigned to department S17. This addition of a new limited civil courtroom will expand access to justice by allowing residents of San Bernardino County to resolve their cases more efficiently. Recent judicial appointments made by Governor Jerry Brown and an increase in new funding to the Superior Court of San Bernardino County brings opportunities to expand access in case-types that directly affect our community.
“The Superior Court of San Bernardino County is committed to expanding and improving access to justice,” said Presiding Judge John P. Vander Feer. “We are always looking for ways to improve access to our Court, and adding an additional limited civil department is a great way to make improvements in this area.”
The Superior Court of San Bernardino County serves the largest county in the contiguous United States with 12 courthouses that spread over 20,000 square miles, serving an estimated 2.16 million residents.
